Bring a new kind of fire to a familiar hearth.

Optimyst Revive in a living-room fireplace setting

Optimyst® Revive brings a vapor-flame presentation to a compact fireplace format. Water mist catches the light above the log bed, creating a moving effect that can be enjoyed with supplemental heat or with the heater switched off.

The refillable water system is reached through the front drawer. That access makes placement and finishing important: plan the opening, airflow and a clear route to the tank before the surround is complete.

Choose a natural flame appearance or a colored theme, adjust the intensity and add crackling sound at the volume you prefer. The supplied remote and Bluetooth FlameConnect Phone App control offer different ways to make those adjustments.

A flame with room to move.

Six intensity levels adjust the vapor flame’s height. Natural Flame, Blue, Violet, Red and Aquamarine are joined by Prism, which cycles through the colors. Give the mist generator time to respond after changing intensity.

The crackling effect has five volume levels and an off setting. Keep strong drafts away from the installation so the flame can form and move as intended.

Revive overall appliance dimensions
Overall appliance dimensions are separate from the minimum opening and airflow requirements.

Allow a minimum opening 25¼ inches wide, 25 inches high and 12 inches deep. Preserve access to the drawer and do not obstruct its underside air intake.

Give the flame a steady place to form

Choose a location away from drafts, ceiling fans and strong vent currents. The manual recommends an additional 16-square-inch fresh-air inlet to the underside where the installation permits; a grille needs enough gross area to preserve that free opening.

Secure and level before adding water

The unit must be secured against tipping when the drawer opens. Use the described bracket or base-fixing method and suitable hardware for the supporting material. Existing fireplace installations require professional chimney cleaning and blocking off.

A little care keeps the atmosphere flowing.

Open the drawer and lift out the refillable tank to add water. Follow the manual’s water-quality instructions, including filtering or decalcifying refill water and softening where hard water makes it necessary.

Clean the tank, reservoir, top cover and transducer at least once a month. More frequent cleaning may be needed with local water conditions. The Optimyst antimicrobial feature works alongside regular cleaning, not in place of it.

If the fireplace will not be used for more than two weeks, empty it and dry all wet components. Disconnect power and let the appliance cool before cleaning or service.

Revive remote control

The supplied remote arrives factory-paired and includes two AA batteries. Use it to select heat, flame, sound, daily scheduling and the runback timer. Onboard controls remain available inside the drawer.

FlameConnect Phone App operates this model over Bluetooth rather than a Wi-Fi network. The handheld remote does not control the fireplace while the app is open on a mobile device.

The heater is rated at 1,250 watts on a 120-volt supply. The manual describes 120-volt hardwired and power-cord arrangements; have the installer confirm the intended connection and suitable circuit before finishing the surround.

Let’s get your project right.

How does Optimyst create the flame effect?

Optimyst uses water mist and lighting to create a moving vapor-flame presentation above the log bed. Revive has a refillable water tank, reservoir and transducer, so water care and airflow are part of ownership. It is an electric appliance; the presentation does not require a gas flame.

Will Revive fit my existing fireplace opening?

The manual specifies a minimum opening 25¼ inches wide, 25 inches high and 12 inches deep. Keep the air intake beneath the drawer unobstructed and leave the drawer usable for refilling and service. For an existing fireplace opening, the guide calls for professional chimney cleaning and blocking off before installation.

Does the water tank need a permanent plumbing connection?

Revive uses a removable, refillable tank accessed through the drawer. The guide describes removing and refilling that tank rather than requiring a permanent water connection. Let the reservoir fill fully before switching on, secure the appliance before adding water, and keep it level.

What water should I use, and how often will it need cleaning?

The guide calls for clean tap water and recommends softening in hard-water areas; its refill instructions specify filtered or decalcified water. Avoid unfiltered well water or an unmonitored supply. Clean the tank, reservoir, top cover and transducer at least monthly, more often if the water quality requires it. Antimicrobial technology does not replace this cleaning.

Can I put Revive near a ceiling fan or air-conditioning vent?

Large air movements affect the vapor flame in a similar way to a candle. Choose a location away from drafts, ceiling fans and strong vent currents. Keep the drawer’s underside air inlet open; the guide recommends an additional 16-square-inch inlet reaching the underside where the installation permits.

Can FlameConnect Phone App operate Revive when I am away from home?

This model’s manual describes FlameConnect Phone App as a Bluetooth remote, not a connection through a Wi-Fi network. It therefore does not establish remote control from outside Bluetooth range. The fireplace also will not respond to its handheld remote while the app is open on a mobile device. Use the exact-model controls rather than app capabilities described for another Dimplex family.

Why does the flame take a moment to appear after switching on?

The manual describes a 45-second warm-up sequence before the flame begins. If the effect does not appear after that, check the water level, appliance leveling and troubleshooting guide. A low-water warning flashes the LEDs and sounds two beeps; after 15 minutes in that condition, only the fuel bed remains illuminated.

How can I change flame height, color and sound?

There are six flame-intensity levels and six themes: Natural Flame, Blue, Violet, Red, Aquamarine and Prism, which cycles the colors. Give the generator time to respond when adjusting intensity rather than immediately setting it to maximum. Crackling sound has five volume levels and can be switched off.

Can I use the flame without heat or set a weekly schedule?

Yes. The controls allow heat to be switched off independently of the flame. The remote supports four scheduled time slots per day and a runback timer with preset periods from 30 minutes to eight hours. Set the remote’s date and time first; these must be set again after changing its batteries.

What should I plan for service access and longer periods away?

Keep the drawer and serviceable parts accessible after the surround is finished. If the appliance will be unused for more than two weeks, the guide says to drain it and dry the wet components. Replacement transducers are supplied, without a published quantity here. Two-year limited appliance coverage includes eligible on-site or in-home service; trims and accessory packages have separate terms.

OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT

Hearth Outpost Score

7.8/10

Revive is an appealing way to bring a water-vapor fire into a smaller traditional opening. We like the combination of physical logs, moving mist and a refillable water arrangement, particularly when a permanent water line would complicate the project. The remote is included, and compatible trim can help finish the opening. Before choosing it, make sure the refill drawer and service areas remain accessible. This is a fireplace to enjoy and maintain, not simply install behind a permanent decorative surround and forget.

What stands out

Vapor in a compact format

The enclosed firebox provides a defined presentation around the logs, making the technology easier to incorporate into a conventional hearth setting than a loose cassette. That is useful when the fireplace should feel like part of an existing room.

Useful controls included

The supplied remote handles everyday operation, and current documentation supports Flame Connect functionality. A refillable arrangement avoids making a permanent water connection the only route to ownership. The optional trim sizes give another way to finish an appropriate opening.

What to weigh before buying

Keep the drawer accessible

A tight hearth lip or decorative finish can make refilling awkward. Plan the complete installed opening around operation and maintenance, not just the face dimensions. Leave access to the water-contact components for the specified cleaning routine.

Compare the visual effect in context

Vapor responds to its surroundings differently from an LED image. Air movement and a clean water system matter to the display. The 120-volt heater offers extra comfort, while the main reason to choose Revive is the moving fire effect rather than a promise of whole-room heating.

Value Consideration

Revive makes sense when you want vapor in a smaller hearth and can accommodate the refill routine. Include the correct trim and any opening or electrical work in the comparison. If maintaining water is an unwelcome chore, a Revillusion firebox may deliver a more suitable balance of atmosphere and day-to-day simplicity.
