Outdoor kitchen planning

From a space to a complete kitchen.

A practical guide to choosing the equipment, coordinating the details and keeping the whole project in view.

Start with how you live outdoors.

List what you cook most often, how you like to serve and which tasks you want to keep outside. A grill, a generous preparation surface and useful storage make a strong starting point. Add specialty appliances because they earn their place in your routine.

Choose a system or a custom build.

A kitchen kit can bring a defined set of components together. A modular system lets you choose from compatible cabinets, panels and countertops. A custom-built enclosure starts with individual appliance requirements. Check the exact package contents; images may include optional products.

Make space for each task.

Think through preparation, cooking, serving and clearing up. Keep a clear landing surface near cooking appliances and useful storage close to where it is needed. Plan sink plumbing behind access doors and retain access for servicing. Let the exact appliance manuals and your installer determine clearances and the final arrangement.

Select equipment before construction details.

Record manufacturer model numbers, fuel choices and configurations. Nominal appliance width is not a cutout dimension. Your installer should verify openings, ventilation, liners, combustible-material restrictions, service access and lid or door movement against the current documents.

Plan refrigeration and utilities together.

Review the selected refrigerator’s outdoor rating and installation instructions. Gas appliances, electric cooking, refrigeration, sinks and lighting can each introduce different utility requirements. Ask the relevant installer to confirm the supply, drainage and placement before finalizing the enclosure.

Separate equipment cost from project cost.

Your saved equipment subtotal is one part of the budget. Include cabinetry, work surfaces, site preparation, utility work, installation and delivery where applicable. Resolve package inclusions to avoid buying an appliance twice.

Keep one working equipment list.

Use the kitchen planner to select exact configurations and quantities. Download the list for your builder, then review every product page for final details. Recheck prices and availability when you are ready to order.
