Dimplex · Sierra
A linear electric fireplace with in-wall, on-wall and tabletop installation options, supplied log, pebble and crystal media, and independently adjustable flame and ember colors.
In Stock

Sierra 48 gives a room a long, illuminated hearth with three documented installation choices: recessed into a wall, mounted on the wall, or placed on its supplied tabletop feet. Decide how the fireplace will sit in the room before planning the support and power supply.
The supplied log, pebble and crystal media choices let the same appliance take on different character. These are alternative presentations to arrange using the guide, rather than separate required purchases.
Seven fixed flame colors and rotation work alongside separate ember colors and a smoldering effect. Use the display on its own or add supplemental electric warmth.
Adjust flame color, rotation and brightness separately from the ember-bed lighting. Seven ember colors, rotation and smoldering provide different ways to bring the supplied media into focus.
The photographs show the model with different supplied media and installation arrangements. Choose an arrangement that suits the room, then follow the guide when positioning the media and replacing the front glass.

For an in-wall installation, plan a 41.6 × 18.5 × 6.5-inch cabinet opening. The nominal 48-inch model name is not the opening width.
| Cabinet opening width | 41.6 in |
|---|---|
| Cabinet opening height | 18.5 in |
| Cabinet opening depth | 6.5 in |
With the supplied feet installed, the assembly is 21½ inches high and 11 inches deep. Check the full width in the overall drawing and choose a stable support that meets the guide’s placement requirements.
Use the guide’s recessed or wall-mounted instructions for the selected arrangement, including its fixings, support and clearance requirements. Preserve access to the suitable grounded receptacle.

Use the touchscreen or supplied infrared remote to set the flame, ember bed and supplemental heat. The thermostat runs from 64°F to 82°F, with continuous On available; the flame can run with heat switched off.
Set the one-to-eight-hour timer for an evening session. Switching off with the power control retains settings apart from the timer, while unplugging the appliance restores defaults. No Wi-Fi is required for the documented controls.
| In the box | Contents & quantities |
|---|---|
| Firebox & glazing | Sierra firebox · front glass |
| Supplied media | Log, pebble and crystal media choices |
| Controls & power | Infrared remote · 2 AAA batteries · grounded power cord |
| Tabletop installation | Tabletop feet · 4 foot fasteners |
| Wall & glazing hardware | 6 wall anchors · 6 mounting screws · 2 glass-retaining fasteners |
The documented appliance supports in-wall, on-wall and tabletop arrangements. Choose the arrangement before planning the opening, wall fixings or furniture surface. The supplied feet are for tabletop use; a recessed installation uses the cabinet-opening dimensions and mounting instructions in the manual.
No. SIL48 needs a cabinet opening 41.6 inches wide, 18.5 inches high and 6.5 inches deep. The nominal 48-inch name describes a different dimension scope. Use the cabinet-opening table for framing and the overall drawing for the finished front-glass footprint.
With its tabletop feet installed, the documented assembly is 21½ inches high and 11 inches deep. Choose a stable supporting surface that accommodates the complete appliance, and follow the placement and clearance instructions. The tabletop footprint is different from the recessed cabinet depth.
Sierra supplies log, pebble and crystal media choices, so those are not missing standard equipment. Select and arrange the presentation using the media installation instructions. Different photographs show alternative arrangements; do not infer a loose-media piece count from a photograph or mix materials without the guide’s direction.
Yes. The flame control offers seven fixed colors plus a rotating mode and three brightness levels. The ember-bed control has seven fixed colors, rotation and a smoldering effect. These separate controls let you adjust the presentation without buying a different fireplace or changing the electrical connection.
Yes. The flame and ember presentation can operate without heat. When warmth is wanted, the thermostat adjusts from 64°F to 82°F, with continuous On also available. The heater is rated at 1,400 watts on a 120-volt supply; keep the air inlet and outlet unobstructed.
The documented controls are the onboard touchscreen and supplied infrared remote, powered by two AAA batteries. Those controls do not require an app or Wi-Fi. Keep a clear line of sight when using the remote and use the guide’s control instructions rather than features from another Dimplex family.
Switching off and back on with the power control retains the previous settings except the timer. Disconnecting the appliance from its power supply restores the defaults. Set a fresh timer when needed; it runs from one to eight hours.
The grounded cord and tabletop feet are supplied. Do not add another plug kit or set of feet as though the appliance were incomplete. Follow the selected installation’s connection and support instructions; do not use an extension cord or power strip as a substitute for a suitable receptacle.
Inspect and clean the appliance annually and keep the vents clear, with power disconnected and the appliance cool. Sierra has one year of limited coverage for covered defects. Its warranty does not include in-home service; review the service and transportation provisions before arranging a repair, and contact authorized support for a covered fault.

EXTERNAL CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT
Sierra is a sensible starting point when you want the atmosphere of a linear fireplace without committing to a complicated built-in project. We like having several mounting options and a choice of ember-bed looks, with a conventional plug-in connection. Owners often enjoy the appearance and straightforward setup. We would treat its heater as a comfort boost, however, and look carefully at the glass and operating condition before installation. Reports of glass breakage and heater failure keep our ownership assessment measured.
Owners frequently enjoy the finished appearance, the choice of flame settings and the ability to run the display without heat. Several describe setup as straightforward, including installations completed by a carpenter. Heating experiences are less consistent, and glass-breakage and heater-failure reports are reasons to inspect carefully and know the service arrangements before the first season.
Sierra can suit a wall-mounted feature, a recessed installation or a freestanding arrangement using the specified supports. That gives you more ways to work around an existing room than a fireplace that demands a purpose-built enclosure from the outset. Choose the installation method before finishing the wall.
The log, pebble and crystal media options let you take the appearance in a more traditional or contemporary direction. Flame-only operation is useful when you want an evening focal point without adding heat, especially in a room that is already comfortable.
Some owners report unexpected front-glass breakage; another describes a heater stopping after extended use. Inspect the unit carefully, confirm the service arrangements and address damage or operating faults before use. Do not use damaged glass or try to work around a fault.
A plug-in electric heater is best approached as supplementary warmth. Large openings, high ceilings and distance from the unit change the experience. Also measure the actual enclosure and front assembly: the nominal fireplace size is not the framing dimension.
Sierra makes the strongest case when a simpler installation saves work and the flame effect matters more than elaborate controls or a deep firebox. Compare the complete installation cost, including wall preparation and the electrical supply, against stepping up to a recessed model. We would not pay for a larger size solely in the hope of substantially more heat.
The 4.6/5 Market Rating is based on 238 eligible customer ratings reviewed by Hearth Outpost. The star breakdown distribution shows how those customers rated the product. These are aggregated customer reviews across the market and not random sampling.
The family assessment pools sizes, fuel types, generations and colors. Equipment differs by configuration. The HOP score is a price-independent research assessment. Owner themes summarize the accessible sample.
