A familiar hearth, ready for an electric fire.

BF39STP in a finished fireplace setting

BF39STP brings a traditional built-in firebox format together with the Dimplex flame presentation, fireplace logs and a pulsing ember bed. A mirrored rear panel forms part of the display, while operable mesh screens finish the standard opening.

Use the flame on its own or add fan-forced supplemental heat. The firebox’s documented 120-, 208- and 240-volt configurations provide different heater ratings; choose the installation with the electrician before the surrounding wall is complete.

Separate glass, door and trim accessories allow a considered finishing choice. Match each accessory to BF39STP and review what the base firebox already supplies before ordering additional parts.

The details behind a familiar glow.

The standard log and ember presentation sits within the steel-lined firebox, with the mirrored rear glass and mesh screens identified in the exact model specification. Optional front glass and door products have separate identities.

The manufacturer’s untrimmed front and angled views help distinguish the base firebox from a finished room photograph that may show additional surround details.

A clean finish starts with the right opening.

BF39STP manufacturer overall firebox dimensions
Overall appliance dimensions are separate from the rough opening. The opening rows below follow the current 7206350500R10 guide.

For a flat-wall installation, the current manual gives a 39 × 32.9 × 16-inch rough opening. Plan the supply, mounting, finish and service access together.

Rough-opening width39 in
Rough-opening height32.9 in
Rough-opening depth16 in
Width / height tolerance0 to +0.1 in, per manual table

Keep framing and finishing separate

The manual identifies the trimming surfaces that may contact finish materials and specifies separate clearances for insulation and vapor barriers. Do not place combustibles on the top surface or use trim as a substitute for support.

Planning a corner or wall controls?

Use the manual’s separate corner diagram or control arrangement before closing the wall. The correct supply and control scheme must be selected with the installer rather than combined from several optional diagrams.

A flame for the evening. Warmth when you want it.

BF39STP installed in a room setting

The exact model sheet describes flame-only and flame-with-heat operation. Fan-forced circulation provides supplemental warmth without changing the decorative presentation into a gas or wood-burning fire.

The documented heater ratings are 1,440 watts at 120 volts, 2,100 watts at 208 volts and 2,700 watts at 240 volts. These belong to different configured supplies; they are not interchangeable plug settings.

Use the built-in manual switches or an appropriate documented control arrangement. Optional remote, wall-switch and thermostat choices require their own compatibility and installation review.

The right pieces, clearly accounted for.

Let’s get your project right.

What opening does the current BF39STP installation guide require?

The current 7206350500R10 guide lists a rough opening 39 inches wide, 32.9 inches high and 16 inches deep for BF39STP/DXP, with 0 to +0.1 inch tolerance on width and height. Use that exact model row and its clearance notes. The nominal 39-inch product name and the overall firebox dimensions are separate measurements.

Can I choose between 120, 208 and 240 volts?

The exact model specification documents all three supplies, with different heater ratings. The installation guide states that the appliance is factory-configured for 208/240 volts and describes a different 120-volt configuration. Have the installer confirm the appliance setting, supply and controls before connection; this is not a plug-and-use voltage change.

What heat output is documented at each supply?

The exact BF39STP sheet lists 2,700 watts at 240 volts, 2,100 watts at 208 volts and 1,440 watts at 120 volts. These are alternative electrical configurations, not outputs to add together. Choose the intended supply with the installer and use the complete circuit and connection requirements in the installation guide.

Is a glass front or door included in the standard firebox?

The exact model sheet lists mirrored rear glass and operable mesh screens as standard features. It lists BFGLASS39BLK, BFDOOR39BLKSM and BFSDOOR39BLK as separate optional glass or door accessories. Choose the exact front arrangement deliberately; the mesh screens and rear mirror are different parts from an optional glass front.

Does the base firebox include a remote control or phone app?

The product has built-in manual power and heater switches. The service resource identifies an optional remote-control kit; a remote should not be assumed to be standard equipment. The documented control options also include wall switches and a wall thermostat. No app or Wi-Fi feature is asserted for this model.

Can I add every wall control and a remote kit together?

The installation guide describes different control arrangements and specifically excludes certain main-power wall-switch arrangements from use with the remote-control kit. Choose a documented control scheme before the wall is finished rather than buying all controls as though they automatically work together.

Can I enjoy the flame with the heater off?

The exact model sheet describes flame-only operation as well as flame with heat. The installation guide also covers control and no-heat arrangements with their own requirements. Use the selected appliance controls and installation configuration rather than changing the wiring as an everyday way to switch heat on and off.

What should I check before placing finish materials around it?

Follow the current guide’s clearances and trimming-surface instructions. It prohibits combustibles on the top surface and gives separate spacing for insulation and vapor barriers around the unit. Finish materials may contact only the identified trimming surfaces; a decorative frame does not remove the support, airflow or clearance requirements.

Can I use the standard opening dimensions for a corner installation?

The guide shows a separate rough-in corner-framing layout. Do not transfer the flat-wall opening measurements to a corner by appearance alone. Have the installer use the corner diagram, the correct BF39STP model row, mounting flanges and full clearance requirements before the structure is built.

What does the documented warranty cover?

The exact BF39STP architectural specification calls for a two-year limited warranty on electrical components. Keep the model, serial number and purchase record for authorized support. This is not a blanket coverage period for every separately purchased trim, glass door or control accessory, and no included in-home service is promised here.

OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT

Hearth Outpost Score

7.4/10

The BF39STP is for someone who wants a familiar built-in fireplace shape and a straightforward electric fire rather than an elaborate light show. Its appeal is the traditional presentation and the ability to plan the electrical configuration around the project. We would pay particular attention to what is included: the remote, optional doors, trim and plug-in arrangement need to be checked separately. That preparation matters more here than chasing extra settings, particularly when finishing an existing opening.

What owners are saying

An owner praises the appearance and the added warmth. That points to the BF39STP's straightforward role: a traditional-looking focal point with supplementary heating. It does not establish long-term dependability or how well it will heat a larger room.

What stands out

A conventional fireplace proportion

The taller opening works with a mantel or traditional surround more naturally than a very wide, shallow ribbon of flame. It is worth considering when the room already has a hearth-like focal point and you want the replacement to feel at home there.

Electrical planning flexibility

The installation documentation covers different supply configurations. That can be useful in a planned renovation, but the connection must be selected correctly rather than assumed from a retailer photograph. Have the installer work from the exact BF39STP instructions.

What to weigh before buying

Build the complete package

A remote is not automatically part of the standard firebox. The optional BFRC-KIT, compatible trim and any doors need to be checked against your intended finish. A seemingly inexpensive firebox can become a different proposition once those pieces and installation are included.

Plan for the product's life

The current supplier material identifies this model as available while quantities last. Confirm supply, accessory fit and service support before making an opening around it. The optional plug arrangement applies to the specified 120-volt configuration, not every electrical setup.

Value Consideration

We would choose the BF39STP for a well-defined traditional installation rather than simply because it is an older, lower-complexity option. Price the finished package against Nova and Revillusion. If a remote and a more convincing visual presentation are priorities, the newer alternatives may justify their extra cost before any installation work begins.
