A NEW WAY TO GATHER AROUND THE FIRE

Movement, light and a little more atmosphere.

OLF46 room setting Dine Kitchen

Optimyst® combines illuminated water vapor with multicolor LEDs to create a flame-and-smoke illusion. Behind the sealed glass, the display becomes a changing focal point for a dining room, living space or bedroom.

Begin with a familiar amber glow or explore custom colors. Adjustable crackling sound adds another layer to the experience, and the heater can stay off when you only want the flame.

MAKE THE FIRE YOUR OWN

Color above. Texture below.

OLF Colour Theme Custom

Control individual lights and mix colors to give the vapor flame a different character. Adjustable flame baffles shape the flame pattern, while the supplied driftwood and acrylic crystals let you choose the media presentation.

FlameConnect Phone App compatibility brings flame intensity, color, sound and heat settings to your phone. A physical remote is included, so the everyday controls are not dependent on reaching for a phone.

THE DETAILS BEHIND THE DISPLAY

A beautiful flame starts with good airflow.

OLF Side Vent

The enclosure needs a fresh-air path to the underside of the fireplace. For OLF46-AM, the manual specifies 80 square inches of inlet area. A grille reduces free area, so the opening may need to be larger to compensate.

The sealed front glass does not make the installation airtight. Plan intake openings before framing and drywall, keep the appliance level, and maintain access for the water shutoff and service.

SETTLE IN FOR THE LONG RUN

Continuous water. Thoughtful ownership.

OLF QR Code Position

The installation guide specifies a continuous cold-water connection using standard ¼-inch outside-diameter tubing. The optional CDFIPLUMB-KIT is a copper-pipe connection accessory; it is not a reason to assume that the fireplace includes refillable tanks.

Normal tap water is permitted. Hard water may require a softener and more frequent cleaning; unfiltered well water or another unmonitored supply is not recommended. Keep the water shutoff accessible for scheduled maintenance. The pull-out QR label helps you find product support.

MEASURE ONCE. ENJOY FOR YEARS.

Give the flame the space it needs.

Electrical entry is at the top-right rear; the water connection is at the bottom-left rear. Keep access to the water shutoff and avoid loading the top of the firebox with building materials.

GOOD QUESTIONS. USEFUL ANSWERS.

Let’s get your project right.

Does OLF46-AM use refillable tanks or a permanent water connection?

The reviewed OLF46 installation guide specifies a continuous cold-water connection using standard ¼-inch outside-diameter tubing. Plan the water route and accessible shutoff before enclosing the fireplace. The optional copper-pipe connection kit is different from a refillable-tank system.

Why does a sealed-glass fireplace still need an air inlet?

The vapor system needs fresh air to reach the underside of the appliance. OLF46-AM requires 80 square inches of inlet area. Omitting the inlet can impair the flame and damage the fireplace. A grille reduces open area, so account for its obstruction when sizing the opening.

Which dimensions should I give the cabinetmaker?

Provide both sets: framing is at least 48 inches wide by 32½ inches high by 12 inches deep, while the drywall opening is 46³⁄₁₆ by 17½ inches. The appliance’s overall dimensions are a third set. The installer also needs the intake and service-access details from the manual.

Can I use the flame and sound without turning on the heater?

Yes. The water-vapor flame effect operates independently of supplemental heat, and the crackling sound has adjustable volume. This lets you use the fireplace for atmosphere in warmer weather. Choose supported flame, heat and sound settings with the controls or FlameConnect Phone App.

What type of water should the installation use?

The manual permits normal tap water. In hard-water areas it recommends a softener and notes that more frequent cleaning may be needed. Unfiltered well water and other unmonitored supplies are not recommended. Water quality and regular maintenance both affect the vapor system.

Can I hide the water shutoff inside a permanently sealed wall?

The plumbing connection needs access so the water can be shut off during scheduled maintenance. Resolve that access with your installer before wall finishing. An attractive enclosure should still allow the service steps required for the fireplace.

What if the front glass starts to fog?

The troubleshooting guide associates fogging with excess humidity. It directs owners to use Extractor Fan Boost and, if fogging persists, reduce flame intensity. Use the model’s operation and troubleshooting sections rather than treating condensation as a reason to change the enclosure or block airflow.

Why might the remote stop responding while the app is open?

The troubleshooting guide notes that an open FlameConnect Phone App on a mobile device can prevent remote commands. Close the app on all mobile devices before trying the remote again. Battery condition and remote syncing are separate checks described in the manual.

Should I expect every section of vapor flame to look identical immediately?

Some variation between modules is normal, and the manual allows 10–15 minutes after startup for flame height to stabilize. Persistent performance issues may call for cleaning or transducer service. Keep that distinction in mind before changing the flame baffles or water arrangements.

Is this suitable for a bathroom or wet location?

Bathroom installation needs GFCI protection and placement that prevents water from entering the appliance. The fireplace is not watertight and must be kept away from showers, tubs and places where it could fall into water. Have your installer review the exact location and electrical requirements.

OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT

Hearth Outpost Score

8.0/10

Optimyst Linear makes the strongest case when you want a broad, moving fire effect to be a permanent feature of the room. We like the combination of vapor, a finished glass-front format and supplied media that gives the installation a clear visual direction. This range needs a continuous water connection, so it belongs in the project plan early. Set aside room for servicing and regular cleaning as carefully as you plan the face of the fireplace; those details determine how enjoyable it will be to own.

What owners are saying

Owners describe the installed fireplace as a strong living-room focal point and appreciate the realism of the effect. Several report an installation that went more smoothly than expected. Those positive accounts support the visual appeal, while the practical buying decision still rests on whether your project can accommodate the water connection and maintenance access.

What stands out

A substantial visual centerpiece

The long viewing area and physically moving mist can create a different impression from a flat flame display. The included crystal and driftwood media provide the intended starting arrangement without immediately requiring a separate decorative-media purchase.

No routine tank refill

A correctly installed continuous cold-water connection changes the daily routine compared with refillable vapor models. That can be useful in a fireplace used frequently, but it is a plumbing commitment rather than a maintenance-free feature. Water-contact parts still need attention.

What to weigh before buying

Plan plumbing and removal access

The water line, electrical supply and the ability to reach internal components need to be coordinated before the wall is closed. Avoid treating it as a plug-in insert that can be pushed into any opening. The larger sizes also need careful handling and a suitable supporting structure.

Allow for water-system care

Regular cleaning and attention to the prescribed water requirements are part of keeping the effect consistent. Confirm the warranty and local service arrangements in writing before purchase, including who can reach the installed components and what work is covered. That is especially important for a fireplace built into a finished wall.

Value Consideration

The extra investment is most defensible when the vapor effect is a central part of the room and the project already allows for water and service access. Compare the installed cost, not just the fireplace price. A simpler LED linear unit is likely to suit someone who wants a striking wall feature with less ongoing attention.
