Build in the air paths
The top inlet needs at least 29 square inches of free area, drawing air from the room. Do not obstruct the drawer’s underside inlet. An additional 16-square-inch lower inlet is recommended; compensate for any grille coverage.

Dimplex · Optimyst Aura
Optimyst® water-mist flame in a front-facing, corner or bay-style fireplace, with drawer-access refilling, six flame themes and supplemental heat.
In Stock

Optimyst® Aura combines a water-mist flame with a built-in fireplace format that can face the room, open at either corner or reveal both sides in a bay-style installation. Choose the view as part of planning the room rather than buying a different appliance for each arrangement.
The water tank sits behind a pull-out drawer. Keep that drawer accessible and build the required fresh-air paths into the surround so the vapor flame can form properly.
Six flame themes and adjustable crackling sound let the fireplace change character through the evening. Supplemental heat can be switched off while the flame remains in use.
Optimyst uses water mist and light to create its moving vapor-flame effect. Six intensity levels adjust the height, while Natural Flame, Blue, Violet, Red, Aquamarine and Prism provide different color presentations.
Choose whether to add crackling sound, then set one of five volume levels. Give the generator time to respond to adjustments and use the manual’s spacers or slotted inserts when shaping the effect.

The front-facing, left-corner, right-corner and bay-style arrangements use the same appliance. Follow the guide when removing or retaining the side panels and trims, and choose the arrangement before the surrounding wall is finished.

The overall width changes with the number of open sides. Plan the enclosure from the selected configuration and preserve the mandatory fresh-air paths, drawer access and electrical entry.
| Overall width: single-sided | 28 13/16 in |
|---|---|
| Overall width: two-sided | 29 7/16 in |
| Overall width: three-sided | 30 in |
| Overall height | 29 3/16 in |
| Overall depth | 15⅜ in |
| Required top fresh-air free area | At least 29 sq in |
| Recommended additional underside inlet | 16 sq in |
The top inlet needs at least 29 square inches of free area, drawing air from the room. Do not obstruct the drawer’s underside inlet. An additional 16-square-inch lower inlet is recommended; compensate for any grille coverage.
The fireplace is not load-bearing. The guide describes ½-inch drywall or cement-board trim use and limits drawer-front finishing material to five pounds. Use suitable adhesive, keep the drawer clear and do not drill into the housing.

The drawer gives access to the refillable tank and controls. Follow the manual’s water-quality instructions, including filtering or decalcifying refill water and using a softener where hard water makes it necessary.
Clean the tank, reservoir, top cover and transducer at least monthly. More frequent cleaning may be needed depending on local water. The Optimyst antimicrobial feature complements this care; it does not replace it.
Drain the appliance and dry wet components when it will remain unused for more than two weeks. Disconnect power and allow the appliance to cool before cleaning or servicing.

The supplied remote arrives factory-paired with two AA batteries. Use the remote or drawer-access manual controls for flame, sound and heat. Scheduling supports four time slots per day, and the runback timer offers preset periods from 30 minutes to eight hours.
FlameConnect Phone App operates this model over Bluetooth rather than Wi-Fi. The handheld remote is inactive while the mobile app is open. Set the remote’s date and time before using its scheduled programs.
Aura uses a 120-volt electrical supply. Have the installer plan the documented hardwired or power-cord arrangement, required protection and the rear bottom-left connection before closing the surround.

The same 3STEP-RGB-AM supports front-facing, left-corner, right-corner and bay-style installations. The side panels and trims are arranged according to the selected view. Decide which sides remain open before framing; the manual gives different overall widths for single-, two- and three-sided arrangements.
No. The manual’s overall widths are 28 13/16 inches for single-sided, 29 7/16 inches for two-sided and 30 inches for three-sided installation. Overall height is 29 3/16 inches and depth is 15⅜ inches. The guide tells the installer to prepare the opening from the product dimensions while preserving the air paths; do not treat the nominal name as a universal framing dimension.
Aura requires a top fresh-air opening with at least 29 square inches of free area. The inlet beneath the drawer must remain unobstructed. An additional 16-square-inch inlet reaching the underside is recommended for optimal flame performance. Air must come from the room containing the fireplace; a grille needs a larger gross opening to preserve the required free area.
The supplied water system uses a refillable tank reached through the pull-out drawer, and the manufacturer describes operation without permanent plumbing. Allow full drawer access and secure the fireplace before adding water. Keep the appliance level and let the reservoir fill fully before switching it on.
The guide calls for clean tap water, recommends softening in hard-water areas and specifies filtered or decalcified water in the refill instructions. Avoid unfiltered well water or unmonitored supplies. Clean the top cover, reservoir, tank and transducer at least monthly, more often if the water requires it. The antimicrobial feature does not remove that maintenance requirement.
The manual allows a matching finish on the drawer front, attached with suitable adhesive and weighing no more than five pounds. Do not use screws or nails or drill into the firebox housing. Keep the finish from extending beyond the drawer front or blocking airflow, and preserve the drawer’s movement and access.
Six intensity levels adjust flame height. Choose Natural Flame, Blue, Violet, Red, Aquamarine or Prism, which cycles the colors. Crackling sound has five volume levels and an off setting. Let the generator respond to changes rather than starting at maximum intensity; the guide also provides spacers and slotted inserts for shaping the effect.
The Aura manual describes FlameConnect Phone App as a Bluetooth remote, not operation through a Wi-Fi network. It does not establish control while away from Bluetooth range. The handheld remote also does not control the fireplace while the app is open on a mobile device. The supplied remote and manual controls provide the documented local operation.
Aura has a 45-second warm-up sequence. A low-water warning flashes the LEDs and sounds two beeps; after 15 minutes of low water, only the fuel bed remains illuminated. Refill using the guide’s instructions and check leveling and air paths if performance is poor. A mist-extraction fan has High and Low settings to help reduce condensation according to flame intensity.
Aura operates on 120 volts and can present the flame with heat off. The remote supports daily schedules and preset runback periods from 30 minutes to eight hours. Preserve access to the drawer and serviceable parts. Drain and dry wet components when unused for more than two weeks. Two-year limited appliance coverage includes eligible on-site or in-home service; trims and accessories have separate terms.
RATINGS & OWNER INSIGHTS

Optimyst Aura 30-inch family
OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT
Aura is for a room where seeing the fire from more than one direction is part of the appeal. Its front, corner and bay-style possibilities give the vapor effect a stronger architectural role than a flat insert. We like that flexibility, but would design the surround around the refill drawer, air intake and cleaning access before choosing finishes. It is a good fit for someone who values the changing flame appearance enough to accept more routine care than an LED-only fireplace requires.
The available viewing configurations let the same general fireplace concept suit a corner or projecting feature. That can make the fire feel connected to seating on different sides of the room, provided the planned enclosure follows the approved configuration.
The combination of illuminated vapor, log presentation and controls gives you more ways to change the mood than a fixed flame image. A refill drawer provides water access without relying on a permanent supply line, making the upkeep visible and manageable in a properly planned installation.
The drawer needs room to open, and the enclosure needs its specified air path. A low shelf or tightly finished surround can compromise the everyday experience even when the front looks attractive. Plan these details with the installer before selecting the final cladding.
Water quality, cleaning and surrounding airflow affect the effect. Allow time for that care and choose the fireplace for ambiance first. The AM electrical specification must guide the project; European versions and their power ratings are not substitutes for the supplied model's instructions.
Aura earns consideration when the multi-sided view will be enjoyed from several places in the room. That is a better reason to step up than simply wanting more settings. Compare the total enclosure work and ongoing water care with a multi-sided LED model before deciding which experience you will prefer after the novelty wears off.
The family assessment pools sizes, fuel types, generations and colors. Equipment differs by configuration. The HOP score is a price-independent research assessment. Owner themes summarize the accessible sample.
