The heater is rated at 1,500 watts, with a published heat output of 5,000 BTU per hour. It supplies heat electrically, without a propane or natural-gas connection.
Infrared heat directs warmth toward people and objects in its path, helping make the seating area more comfortable as the outdoor temperature drops.
The cantilever arm positions the heating element away from the upright support, letting you direct its warmth toward the area you want to use.
The matte black powder coating provides the heater’s exterior finish and coordinates with black outdoor cooking equipment.
An 8-foot power cord and wheels give you flexibility when positioning the heater near an appropriate electrical outlet.
The light-up control brings power, heat output, timer and child-lock settings together where you can see them in lower light.
The rolling, weighted base supports a freestanding heater that Napoleon recommends assembling with two people. Allow an 8-foot overall ceiling height, 26 inches in front and behind the tower uprights, 3.5 inches at the sides, and 4 inches above the heater arm. Follow the placement diagram on page 11 of the manual.
The included cover protects the heater during storage. Allow it to cool before covering it.
The finish is designed to complement Napoleon grills, helping the separate components read as one outdoor kitchen.
An illuminated control offers nine heat settings and a timer adjustable up to nine hours.
Automatic shutoff responds to overheating or tipping. Follow the specified placement and clearance instructions.
Napoleon rates the heater for an area up to 144 square feet; outdoor conditions and placement affect perceived warmth.
The heating arm folds for storage and can be positioned at different angles to direct radiant warmth.

RATINGS & OWNER INSIGHTS
What owners report. What our research finds.
Napoleon Phantom freestanding infrared heater family
OUR PRODUCT ASSESSMENT
The Phantom freestanding heater is most appealing when you want warmth over a favorite pair of chairs without mounting a heater to the house. Its overhanging shape puts the heat where people sit, while the folding arrangement and wheels help when the patio needs to serve another purpose. We would treat it as focused comfort for a small seating area. A standard plug is convenient, but the outlet location and cord route still deserve attention. It is not the heater we would choose expecting one unit to warm an entire open patio.
The overhanging head directs warmth toward nearby seating without a permanent wall or ceiling mount. Wheels and a folding arrangement help reposition or store the heater when the patio has another use. Variable output and a timer let you tailor operation around a favorite pair of chairs.
Treat the heater as focused warmth for nearby seats rather than coverage for an entire open patio. Check the outlet location, cord route and required clearances before choosing its resting place. The base still needs floor space, so make sure it does not obstruct the route around the furniture.
Useful when portability avoids a mounting project.
The family assessment pools sizes, fuel types, generations and colors. Equipment differs by configuration. The HOP score is a price-independent research assessment. Owner themes summarize the accessible sample.
