Broil King Baron 420 Shadow Built-In Grill — 28 Inch
A matte-black built-in grill with 4 stainless steel Dual-Tube burners, 460 sq. in. of primary cooking space, and reversible Apex V stainless steel cooking grids.

Build your outdoor kitchen around the cooking space you will use. The Baron 420 Shadow combines a 4-burner cooking system with reversible stainless steel grids: use the pointed side for searing or the V-channel side to hold juices as you cook. Its matte-black finish and illuminated controls give you a coordinated focal point for your counter and storage layout.

Choose the pointed side for defined sear marks or turn the grids to use the V-shaped channels that capture juices as food cooks.

The heat system beneath the grids catches drippings and vaporizes them back into the cooking chamber. Lift out the cooking components for the cleaning routine described in your manual.

4 main burners distribute heat beneath 460 sq. in. of primary cooking space. Use the controls to arrange hotter and gentler cooking areas for different parts of the meal.

The Shadow finish coordinates with dark outdoor-kitchen cabinetry. Illuminated control knobs make it easier to see the controls as daylight fades.

The assembled grill head measures 28 inches wide × 24 inches deep × 21.9 inches high. The 28-inch designation is the nominal model size; do not use it as a cutout measurement. Countertop opening, supports, ventilation, lid clearance and gas connection must follow the installation instructions for the exact model and fuel. Cabinetry, countertop and site installation are separate from this grill-head listing.
The 28-inch Baron 420 Shadow has four main burners and 460 sq. in. of primary cooking space. The 32-inch Baron 520 Shadow has five main burners and approximately 570 sq. in. of primary cooking space. Compare the assembled dimensions and installation opening before deciding which fits your kitchen.
This listing is for the built-in grill head and the cooking equipment itemized in What’s included. Plan your countertop, enclosure or compatible modular cabinetry separately. An island package includes additional cabinets and worktop and is a different product.
No. The assembled head measures 28 inches wide × 24 inches deep × 21.9 inches high; neither its overall dimensions nor the nominal 28-inch size defines the installation opening. Your installer must use the exact-model cutout, support, ventilation and clearance instructions before fabricating the enclosure.
The stainless steel grids are reversible. One side presents a pointed edge for searing; the V-channel side captures cooking juices. They are different from cast iron grids and from the round stainless steel rods used on some other Baron configurations.
The included-equipment list on this page describes the grill-head configuration being offered. A separate side burner and rotisserie equipment are not listed as included extras here. Choose any additional burner or accessory by its exact compatibility and installation requirements.
Select Propane for the factory LP configuration or Natural Gas for a suitable fixed natural-gas supply. These are separate factory SKUs. Have a qualified installer confirm your gas supply and connection requirements; do not assume that a conversion kit is included.
Plan the grill enclosure, preparation space, storage and gas connection together. A compatible modular cabinet is different from a portable cart; do not assume the built-in head can be placed on any freestanding grill base. Finishing touches offers separately priced cooking tools and other useful additions.
Yes, Hearth Outpost offers free shipping. The shipping policy explains delivery arrangements and access requirements. Enclosure construction, countertop fabrication and gas connection should be planned separately with your installer.
