THE BROIL KING HERITAGE

Family roots.
North American craftsmanship.

Behind Broil King is Onward Manufacturing, a Canadian family business with roots dating to 1906. For your outdoor kitchen, that story brings together generations of manufacturing experience and a long commitment to building gas grills in North America.

A family business since 1906.

Theodore Adam Witzel founded the company in Berlin, Ontario, now Kitchener. The business stayed in the family as successive generations developed its manufacturing expertise. Broil King’s heritage begins with that family company; its barbecue chapter came later.

A new chapter in 1985.

Onward shifted its focus to designing, manufacturing, and distributing Broil King barbecues and accessories in 1985. A larger Waterloo facility followed in 1997, giving the growing grill business more room to build.

Made closer to home.

Broil King’s gas-grill manufacturing spans Waterloo, Ontario, Huntington, Indiana, and Dickson, Tennessee. Its gas grills use both domestic and globally sourced components. At Hearth Outpost, we help you connect that background with the details of the model you’re choosing: how it cooks, where it fits, and what comes with it.
