Set Up an Outdoor Drinks Station
Arrange the station in the order people use it
Place glasses where someone arriving at the station can reach them first, then water and other drinks, followed by napkins and a place for caps or empties. Keep bottle openers and serving tools beside the drinks they belong to. Leave an unobstructed landing space for a glass while someone opens or pours a drink.
Use a tabletop or sideboard arrangement for an occasional gathering. Carry chilled drinks out in batches and have a defined replenishment plan. If people repeatedly queue at the indoor refrigerator, dedicated outdoor storage may be worth considering. If the real problem is missing glasses or nowhere to put empties, refrigeration alone will not fix it.
Choose equipment by the job
| What you want to do | Equipment to consider | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| Organize drinks and serving ingredients in a built-in station | Napoleon Multi-Functional Beverage Center | An electrically refrigerated appliance for ongoing cold storage. |
| Keep ingredients and drinks near the preparation area | Fire Magic Outdoor Rated Refrigerator | A separate place to open, pour and set down a drink. |
| Give wine and beverages their own storage | Fire Magic Dual Zone Wine & Beverage Cooler | A general-purpose food refrigerator unless its intended use specifically supports that need. |
| Serve draft beverages regularly | Fire Magic Outdoor Rated Kegerator | Space for glasses, the dispensing equipment’s care routine or other drinks. |
You do not need all four. Write down the role first, then compare the product that serves it. A kegerator makes sense only if drinks on tap are part of your regular use, with the associated setup and maintenance.
A closer look at the Napoleon beverage center
The BI-2418-BEV includes four 1-liter containers and one 8-liter container, creating separate places for the items you want at the serving station. Its stainless-steel construction and illuminated WAVE bar are product features; they do not turn it into a refrigerator. Check the manufacturer’s installation and use instructions before designing the opening or planning how ingredients will be held.
Sketch the station with the lids and surrounding work area in use. A visually tidy closed installation can still be inconvenient if the neighboring counter is occupied by food platters whenever someone wants a drink. Leave the serving activity its own place in the plan.
Keep cold storage easy to reach
A refrigerator beside the cooking zone may work well for ingredients but be awkward for guests. Before choosing its position, open the proposed door on your plan and trace where a person will stand. Check whether that person would block a drawer, narrow the route to the table or step into the cook’s work area.
For a beverage cooler, compare the bottles and cans you actually buy with the shelf arrangement. For a kegerator, include the tower and the space needed to use and maintain the dispensing equipment. The outdoor refrigeration guide takes these checks into the appliance-selection brief.
Set up for a supper for six
- Count six drinking glasses and the serving pieces you need for water and your chosen drinks.
- Put openers and napkins at the station before guests arrive.
- Decide where chilled drinks will be stored and who will replenish them.
- Keep any garnishes under the appropriate storage conditions until needed; bring out manageable quantities.
- Identify a place for used glasses and empties that does not consume the clean preparation space.
Pair this with the supper preparation timeline. Drinks setup should be complete before the cook reaches the busiest part of the meal.
Before making it permanent
Observe one gathering before committing to new cabinetry. Note what ran out, which door was repeatedly opened and whether guests used the intended route. Add the results to your outdoor kitchen task plan.
Take the exact model, required opening, utility requirements and service-access needs to your installer. Appliance width is not a substitute for the manufacturer’s installation drawing. If several products share a counter, resolve their requirements together before the counter is fabricated.
